I went searching for a book that fused fantasy and mystery and that's exactly what this book delivers! The author walked the right line of introducing rules about the 'magic' system (which has an amazing apothecary vibe to it) and then using them in the mysteries many twists and turns. There is a lot of mature writing, so I guess I'll just have to add a caveat to the bazillion people I'll be recommending the book to. I will also be reading the sequel very soon, as I can not wait to see what happens to Din and Dolabra.
